Whenever a person goes through cross-dressing he may start feeling his or her belongingness to that particular sex. The wish of that person may become stronger as per time and he may wish opt for transgender.
It’s not an easy decision to take so the person can go for counseling. Transgendering is not considered good in our society so very few counselors are there who can really help out those people who are having the desire of transgender.
A good counselor must take care of the following things:
• A good private place should be provided by the counselor for having a talk.
• He must allow the person to share what he feels
• He should try to bring out the fears of the person.
• He should be supportive in nature so that he can guide the person well.
• He should know the difference between Transgender and gender identity disorder.
• He should convey the results of his or her action clearly but not in a way to hurt the person. But he should try to aware the person about its consequences.
A good counselor must make the person comfortable and should not make the person feel ashamed. He should concentrate upon his good qualities and give the person his best support.
